Have you ever had the problem that changes in your life caused emotional pain? In this article, I will show you that you can also change without any painful experiences and how to do it. Imagine you could change and move forward in your life and feel good about it.
Many people have this negative association, as if pain is necessary in order to allow us to change. This pain can be physical, emotional or both. One of my clients was quite unhappy in her job as a customer care officer. She did not feel recognized or valued. After a few months, she started to feel more and more physically exhausted and unwell. This went on for more than two years until she was unable to work full-time anymore and finally she resigned from her job. This is a typical example where the level of unhappiness and pain increases to an unbearable level and forces us to do something about it. This often also happens in relationships. Many couples hold on to each other, creating unhappiness and frustration for years and are not able to move forward because of fear that they wouldn’t be able to find another partner or that they would suffer financial loss.
The question here is can we also move forward with love and harmony? Yes definitely—you don’t need to create pain in order to move forward. Here is a simple three-step process that will help you to handle changes in your life more easily.
The first step to remove emotional pain is called AWARENESS
Here, you need to be aware and understand what is happening at any specific moment or in any situation in your life. Perhaps you have realised that you are repeating similar experiences over and over again. Then you have already created a habit or program that associates changes with pain and unhappiness. Your unconscious mind is a very fast learner and if you have experienced unhappiness and pain once when things were changing in your life, it will happen over and over again until you stop the program. Awareness helps you to rationalize and recognize where you are at and what you really want in life.
The second step to help with emotional pain This step stands for the fact that we have the right to move forward without emotional pain. We are actually changing constantly; plants are changing; the universe is changing. Changing is a natural process which enables us to grow, and growing is a completely natural process that we can’t stop or reverse. This step helps you to take the pressure off yourself to stay in a specific situation because of fear of what others will think about it. Remember, you are not responsible for others’ feelings, as long you are not purposely trying to hurt them.
You are free to be really happy, loving and to decide to change the direction of your life at any time. You are free to take up a new career, find a new relationship, move to another place and so on. You don’t need to feel unhappy in order to change, and you don’t need any justification to do so, because you are free to change at any time!
The third step to help with emotional pain
This step stands for taking action with positive motivation. Imagine the difference using love as motivation to change instead of fear or emotional pain. With positive motivation, you get all the energy you need to change and there will be always a solution. Here, trust also comes into the game. If you trust and allow yourself to grow, amazing energies are suddenly available for your projects. With this energy and trust you have to take ACTION. You have to start moving towards your next step—your next goal in life. Taking action is very powerful and leads to fast results.
If you follow these simple but powerful steps, you may still experience emotional pain. This does not mean that you should stop or that you are doing something wrong. This means that you are still creating old patterns until you learn to act in a new way. Don’t stop on your journey and keep moving forward. Any positive experience will reprogram your unconscious mind and enforce strong and new beliefs about yourself and that you don’t need emotional pain to move forward in life.
